My give back project is one that I did in one of my chemistry courses. After taking aqueous environmental chemistry, I developed a strong interest in water chemistry and sustainability. For my advanced analytical lab course, I decided to research microplastic concentrations in local water bodies. I took samples from 3 water bodies near Kamloops and designed a method to analyze microplastic content in water using Raman Spectroscopy. My project is detailed in the report below.
